This stoneware katakuchi matcha bowl is finished in a soft matte white glaze, with expressive brush marks across the body, resembling the movement of an ocean wave. Hand-thrown with an asymmetrical spout, layered with multiple glazes, and fired at 1230ºC.
The spout design allows for a clean, controlled pour, making it especially suited for preparing and serving matcha.
Inspired by the rugged beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, it is handcrafted in Harrogate. The bowl’s design blends elements of my Japanese heritage with the natural textures of the countryside, creating a surface that feels both grounded and organic.
Each piece is unique, with gentle variations that make every bowl one of a kind.
