Nocturne Moon Jar
The Nocturne Jar is a hand-thrown moon jar, finished with Hakeme — a traditional Japanese white slip technique, brushed with a hake brush in sweeping strokes. Over this, deep blue glaze is splashed in layers, creating fluid movement and tonal depth across the surface.
Fired at 1230ºC, the surface holds layered movement and subtle contrast — like cloud, shadow, and tide suspended in form.
Its silhouette is quiet and grounded, drawing from the landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. The piece reflects a meeting of my Japanese heritage and the textured stillness of the natural world.
Each moon jar is one of a kind.
