Nocturne Katakuchi Matcha Bowl
This stoneware katakuchi bowl is finished in Nocturne — a layered surface of black clay, brushed white slip (Hakeme), and splashes of deep blue glaze. Hand-thrown, hand-brushed, and fired at 1230ºC, each bowl holds quiet movement in its surface.
The spout allows for a clean, controlled pour, making it especially suited to preparing and serving matcha.
Inspired by the rugged landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, the form reflects a blend of my Japanese heritage and the natural textures of the countryside.
Each bowl is unique — shaped by hand and marked by the rhythm of the process.
Details:
• Approximate size: D 13cm × H 7cm
• Handmade in the UK
• Food-safe glazes
• Hand wash recommended for longevity
• Avoid sudden temperature changes to prevent cracking
