This vase is made from toasted clay, hand-thrown and hand-carved, then dip-glazed and fired at 1230ºC.
Its natural, organic form is shaped by an intuitive making process, with carved surfaces that hold traces of the hand. The piece draws from the rugged landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales alongside influences from my Japanese heritage, reflected in its quiet textures and patterns.
A matte white glaze gives a soft, understated finish. Subtle variations in form, surface, and glaze are part of the making process, making each vase slightly unique.
