Hakeme Mug 400ml
This stoneware mug features Hakeme, a traditional Japanese white slip decoration brushed onto black clay using a hake brush. Hand-thrown into a straight, cylindrical form, each mug is hand-brushed and fired at 1230ºC, allowing the expressive slip marks to remain visible and tactile on the surface.
The interior is fully glazed for everyday use, offering a smooth, functional finish that contrasts with the textured exterior. The clean, upright form sits comfortably in the hand, while the hand-applied brushwork introduces subtle movement and variation.
Inspired by the rugged landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, the mug is handcrafted in Harrogate, reflecting a quiet dialogue between Japanese ceramic tradition and the natural textures of the countryside.
Each piece is handmade, with gentle variations that make every mug one of a kind.
